MAILING

Q: What are the different postage rates Marketing Matters uses?

Standard Mail-The process of preparing & sorting mail to qualify for reduced postage rates. The lowest postage rates are available if you sort and automate the addresses on your mailing list. Standard mail postage is lower than First-Class, however Standard Mail has a longer delivery time.

First Class-This type of mail is sent at a premium rate. The rates are higher because First class mail has a much shorter delivery time. Another advantage of first class mail is the pieces that have incorrect addresses by Post Office Regulations are returned to the mailer, this is great for cleansing your client list.

Non Profit Standard Mail -This postage type is reserved for non-profit organizations only. To qualify for these extra low rates a permit must be established at the Post Office where the letters originate.

Q: What is CASS Certification?

CASS is a United States Postal Service (USPS) acronym for Coding Accuracy Support System, which essentially means that your names and addresses have been compared to the national database or addresses authorized by the Postal Service, and that the correct +4 zip code extension and delivery point barcode information have been added. This will help you qualify for the least expensive postage rates.

Q: Is there a minimum or maximum mailing quantity for Standard or first class mail?

There is no minimum for First class mail, however there is a minimum of 200 pieces in order to qualify for the Standard Rate. There are no maximum mailing amounts, however, postage rates will not decrease with higher quantities.

Q: How long does it take for Standard Mail to be delivered?

When planning to use Standard Mail allow sufficient time for it to be delivered----generally between 5 days and 3 weeks. Certain factors can get your mail delivered sooner than later. The postal software we currently uses allows addresses to be bar-coded or carrier routed to ensure a much faster delivery time. Ask your Account Executive about approximate delivery times for your important project.

Q: Why should we put barcodes on address labels?

The USPS offers significant discounts for mail that is prepared with a barcode to utilize its automated sorting equipment. Automated mail is processed at a much higher production rate. Therefore, it gets through the sorting facility faster and arrives at the destination Post Office much sooner. The same holds true for Carrier Routed mail.

Q: Does Marketing Matters have any mailing lists?

Yes, We have a database that consists of over 3 million residential addresses in the Washington Metropolitan area. We have excellent relationships with many list brokers if any other specific list is needed.
